Office moving is not only a furniture project. The real objective is to move people, equipment and records with the least practical disruption to operations.
Create one relocation owner
Nominate one internal person who can approve decisions, coordinate building access and answer questions from the moving team.
Map the new office
Assign workstation numbers, departments, meeting rooms and storage areas before packing begins.
Prepare IT separately
Your IT team should back up data and define how computers, networking equipment and servers will be disconnected, transported and reconnected. Movers should not make technical decisions about sensitive systems.
Label by destination
Labels should show the new room or workstation, not only the old location. This allows boxes and furniture to go directly to the correct area.
Plan access windows
Confirm service lifts, loading bays, security procedures and whether work is allowed outside normal business hours.
Consider a phased move
For larger offices, moving non-essential archives and storage first can reduce pressure on the final move day.
