Fragile packing is less about using as much material as possible and more about preventing movement, impact and surface contact.
Use the right box size
A very large box filled with fragile items becomes heavy and allows more movement. Use smaller sturdy cartons for glassware and ceramics.
Cushion the bottom and gaps
Create a protective base and fill empty spaces so items cannot slide into each other.
Wrap individually
Glasses, plates and decorative pieces should not share direct hard surfaces. Wrap them individually and separate layers.
Mirrors and artwork
Protect corners and faces, and keep large flat items upright where appropriate rather than stacking heavy objects on top.
Electronics
If original packaging is unavailable, protect screens and corners carefully. Back up important data before moving computers or storage devices.
Label clearly
Mark cartons as fragile and identify the room where they should be delivered. Good labels help the crew plan loading and unloading.
